All The Dirt! Racing News ALTOONA, WI (April 21) - Wilson Race Fuels and Hi Per Flex Panel Systems, LLP have joined the growing list of businesses that have expanded their WISSOTA contingency sponsorship plans in 2006. WISSOTA Promoters Association President Terry Voeltz recently announced the new plans for Wilson, located in Red Wing, MN and Hi Per Flex, based in Grand Forks, ND. Wilson Race Fuels, owned by Mike Wilson since 1980 after his father formed the company in 1953, is centrally located in WISSOTA and serves racers across the Midwest as well as around the world. Wilson’s company stepped forward in 2005 and sponsored the “Extreme Performance Plus Racing Oil Rookie of the Year” awards in WISSOTA. All seven rookies last year received a $500 check from Wilson Race Fuels during the WISSOTA awards banquet in St. Cloud, MN. The sponsorship coincided with the introduction of the company’s Extreme Performance Plus 15W-40 performance racing oil. By taking 20 years of experience in fuels and lubricants and combining it with feedback from engine builders, race teams and drivers, Wilson created a race-proven, thermally stable based oil with a proprietary finger-print blend of highly protective additives to shield against excessive temperatures, engine wear and provide a lower coefficient of friction than any other racing oil. The company will do the same for this year’s six top rookies and it will also include a total of $1,500 in product certificates. “(The rookie program) made a big difference in the exposure and the acceptance of the product,” Wilson said. “We are very pleased with how it went the first year, so we wanted to come back the second year and continue to support the drivers and the engine builders.” Hi Per Flex Panel Systems owner Gene Behr entered into a deal earlier this year with WISSOTA in support of the Tri Star Engine Supply Late Model Challenge Series. Behr will award a complete set of Late Model panels - valued at $1,275 - to the overall winner in the dash point standings. “First and second in the points always get a ton of stuff, so I thought what the heck,” Behr said when asked why he chose ninth place. “All the guys really try hard, but some run into some bad luck some place. They are all among the top runners.” Behr and his wife, Teri, focus their efforts on producing composite body panels - made of aviation grade fiberglass and carbon fiber material - for Late Models, Modifieds and Super Stocks. They specialize in rear quarters, door sides, hoods and front panels along with custom work. They serve drivers throughout WISSOTA country and, to the best of their knowledge, they know of no other composite company that focuses solely on dirt track racers. Their list of satisfied customers, headed by the company¹s research and development drivers, John Seitz of Bemidji, MN, is growing. “We have tripled our business, basically,” Gene said. “A lot of the guys are seeing the advantages of it. It¹s a case of being in the right place at the right time; it sort of speaks for itself.” |
